HerpMedics sells over-the-counter husbandry and supportive-care products for reptile keepers. These are not veterinary medicines, and they are not cures, diagnoses, or treatments for disease. This page explains what our products are, what they aren't, and when to call a vet.
Not veterinary advice
The information on this site — product descriptions, usage notes, and this page — is general husbandry information, not veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It is not a substitute for professional care from a qualified veterinarian who has examined your animal. Nothing here should be read as a diagnosis or a course of treatment.
Not a cure or treatment for disease
Our products support good husbandry and general wellbeing. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Do not use them as a replacement for veterinary treatment of a sick or injured animal. If your reptile needs medical care, it needs a vet — not an over-the-counter product.
See a veterinarian when it matters
For any reptile that is sick, injured, not eating, lethargic, or otherwise declining, consult a qualified reptile (exotics) veterinarian promptly. Reptiles often hide illness until it is serious, so don't wait it out. When in doubt, ask a vet first.
Read and follow the label
Always read the full label and follow the usage, dosing, and warnings before using any product. You are responsible for using each product correctly — for the right species, at the right amount, and in the right situation. If a label and this site ever seem to disagree, the label wins.
Individual results vary
Animals differ. Husbandry products support care, but outcomes depend on your overall husbandry, the animal's environment, and the individual animal. We can't and don't promise a specific result for your reptile.
Your responsibility as a keeper
You are responsible for your animal's care and for deciding — with a veterinarian when appropriate — whether a product is suitable for your animal and situation. Choosing to use a product, and using it correctly, is your call as the keeper.
